Shara, Shekina, and Jessica are joined by Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Founder of the Mental Wellness Collective to talk about Triggers & Trauma.
In this Internal Revolution of Black Love Series we are continuing to unfold what parts of SELF we should explore in order to love properly in not only romantic relationships, but all types of relationship (i.e. parenting, friendships, partnerships, etc).
Trauma is the response to a deeply distressing or disturbing event that overwhelms an individual’s ability to cope, causes feelings of helplessness, diminishes their sense of self and their ability to feel a full range of emotions and experiences.
Triggers refers to something that affects your emotional state, often significantly, by causing extreme overwhelm or distress. A trigger affects your ability to remain present in the moment. It may bring up specific thought patterns or influence your behavior.
Shevon discusses ways individuals can work on triggers & trauma. Find Shevon on Instagram @TheMentalWellnessCollective
